Kevin Kolb keeps talking, but is anything going to change?

With Michael Vick likely to be franchised by the Eagles some time this week, Kevin Kolb’s situation in Philly continues to look bleak.

He has made it clear that he wants to start in the NFL next season, whether it be with the Eagles or another team. Arizona was on the list of possible destinations long before Kolb’s name came out of Larry Fitzgerald’s mouth. But the news clearly hit the embattled quarterback’s ears and he did not hesitate to respond when talking with Howard Eskin and Ike Reese on WIP yesterday. Via PFT via Moving the Chains. "Hey, Don. You hear Fitz wants me in Arizona and not you?"

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported yesterday that Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb at the top of his offseason wish list.

Fitzgerald is entering the final season of his $40 million contract, and the Cardinals brass apparently went to him for advice regarding the quarterback disaster dilemma. Derek Anderson, Max Hall, and John Skelton split snaps in Arizona in 2010 in the wake of the retirement of potential NFL Hall of Famer Kurt Warner. That went well…

It’s understandable that the Cardinals want Fitzgerald to stay in town after 2011, so asking his opinion may not be a bad idea. But the blurring of the line between player and members of the front office could get a little messy. We’ve heard players lobby to bring guys in. Donovan McNabb was very vocal about Terrell Owens joining the organization years ago, but the Cardinals did something different here. They reached out to a player to get an opinion. Just food for thought.

As far as Kolb goes, the embattled backup to Michael Vick, he can’t be traded until a new collective bargaining agreement is in place, and who the hell knows when that’s going to happen? View full article »

He looks confused, but he knows his stuff... promise.

The Eagles search for a defensive coordinator line coach has ended.

Jim Washburn was named to the position today. He spent his past 12 years in Tennessee in the same position under Jeff Fisher. The announcement comes just four days after the Eagles removed Rory Segrest from the job title.

Washburn’s resume in Tennessee is highlighted by his development of players like Javon Kearse, Albert Haynesworth, current Eagle Juqua Parker, Kyle Vanden Bosch, and former Eagle Jason Babin, whose 12.5 sacks this season earned him a trip to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.

The hire is a great one for the Eagles, and a prepared statement from the Eagles was highlighted by some words from the vacationing Andy Reid. View full article »

"Not five wins! Not six wins! Seven, baby! We're in! WOO-HOO!"

Stop complaining.

Yes, conceptually it is a shame that not one, but two 10-win teams were kept out of the playoffs in the NFC.  That doesn’t happen very often. It’s even worse when a 7-9 team does enter the postseason because they were tied for the best record in their division.

They didn’t have the best record outright, they were tied…

…tied.

Icing on the cake? Sure! The Seattle Seahawks were outscored by 97 points in the regular season and were 2-7 in their last nine games going into last night’s regular season finale.

Yeah, I know… but here’s why you can’t complain. View full article »

This guy is playing the best football of his life. How upsetting is that?

  • I’m being forced against my will to reevaluate my long standing opinion that Jay Cutler “sucks at football”. 11 touchdowns and four interceptions in his last five games, and the Bears are 4-1 in that stretch…
  • Jay Cutler is from Santa Claus, Indiana. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
  • I’m watching Good Day Philadelphia right now, and I hate it.
  • Why couldn’t Dwayne Bowe play like this when I started him in my fantasy football playoffs two weeks ago?
  • I love seeing the Giants fall apart every once in awhile. Eli Manning threw 17 more interceptions yesterday, or something like that. View full article »
